Woodland Drum Circle

A monthly circle of rhythm and connection, all welcome, no experience needed

Welcome

A gentle evening, out in nature, amongst the trees, under a canopy of stars, with a fire pit to warm our bones, will be an unforgettable experience.

Play the shamanic drum, use rattles, and your voices intuitively, there are no set rhythms to follow, just find the heartbeat of the group.

You will be invited to join in with some simple rituals, songs, and give offerings to the fire or speak words of gratitude.

We have the use of a roundhouse and a fire pit, along with the outdoor woodland areas, depending on the weather!

Come and join us year round for a special night of drumming at Rika Ace CIC, aka Rika Bushcraft.

Our drumming circle is a sacred community-building event where you can connect with yourself and each other through the healing power of the drum. Drum circles are a time-honoured way of being together, to honour the ancestors and for personal healing.

Please note: as we are borrowing the land from the wildlife, it's essential you do not drop any litter. Smoking is not permitted on the site, and any concerns about disrespectful behaviour can be raised in confidence with Claire.

Please read the FAQs below, which should answer any further questions, or contact Claire, the event organiser.

This is an adult-only workshop.

FAQs

What do I need to bring with me?

Your drum or rattle, something to sit on (a mat or camping chair), a blanket in case you get cold, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes, something to place on the altar space, something to drink and a snack, and a torch in the darker months.

There is a small area just off the lane to park about 10 cars. Please car share if you can, and park considerately on the night so we can squeeze everyone in.

What is the parking like?

There is a short inclined driveway between the parking area and the woodland. It can get muddy and uneven, so if you're unsure, please contact Claire to discuss. Please also note the roundhouse can become smoky once the fire is lit.

Is the site accessible?

Yes, there is a toilet block and hand-washing facilities.

Are there toilets on site?

Do I need a drum?

There may be spare drums or rattles to use or share on the night, but this cannot be guaranteed. You can always use your voice, clap two sticks, or clap your hands. Sometimes it's nice to simply come and be part of the evening. If you're looking to purchase or birth a drum, I can also help.

What does the ticket price cover?

Your ticket covers the cost of hiring the space, along with the firewood to keep us all cosy. It also ensures I'm paid fairly for my time preparing, delivering, and closing down the event, assuming all tickets are sold. Ceremonial cacao is served year-round β€” iced in the warmer months, hot in the colder ones.

I'm lost, I can't find the venue β€” help!

Use Google Maps and search "Rika Ace." This should direct you straight to the entrance and car park. Head down Longdale Lane away from Ravenshead, pass a garage and Cherub's Nursery on your right, then look for the speed limit change to 40, followed by the "out of limits" sign. It's the third driveway on the left, coming from Mansfield.

Cacao is a ceremonial drink made with water and oat milk, sweetened with maple syrup. It has been used for centuries in ritual and community β€” a gentle plant medicine that helps you connect more deeply with yourself, others, and nature. Like hot chocolate, but much more beneficial.

What is cacao?

What is the December giveaway Ceremony?

Our special Yule giveaway is a spirit-led ceremony where each person brings a gift from their own personal belongings to give to someone else. This is not a purchased gift β€” quite the opposite. It should be something of yours that holds meaning or medicine, and this is a time to gift it to another person.

This event is for adults over 18. Breastfeeding babes in arms are welcome, but please note the roundhouse can get particularly smoky, and as we are drumming, it can get very loud.

Can I bring my children?

β€œThis is my happy place.”
